THE GOLF CLUB RESULTS
TGC write up for 26 th – 30 th Mar.
Steve Ellison

Monday 26 th – Green Valley – Stableford – White Tees
1 st – Peter LeNoury - 40 points
2 nd – Nick Fazakerley - 36 points
T-3 rd – George Young - 35 points
T-3 rd – Pierre Gymer - 35 points
We are back to the perfection that is Green Valley for our regular
Monday venue in the hills of Chonburi. The course seems to be the
crown jewel of this Barcelona Valley complex and continues to be
presented in flawless condition.
Tied at third were Pierre Gymer and George Young at 35. George has
been quite ill of late with lung issues so we wish him the best on his
return to the U.K. for treatment.
Another Englishman, Nick Fazakerley, claimed sole second at 36. Nick
has had a good run of late and accustomed to the podium by now.
I must thank Peter LeNoury for making my job that much easier as I
simply cut and paste the same winner for the last 3 weeks. Congrats
on the “threepete”, Pete! Oh yeah, and the near pin as well!
Tuesday 27 th - Pattavia – Stableford – White Tees
1 st – Ken Grimes - 39 points
2 nd – Steve Ellison - 38 points
3 rd – Graham Eldridge - 37 points

The trip out to the collective courses of the next three outings has
shortened considerably. Pattavia Century, Greenwood and Treasure
Hill are all within a mile of each other, as the crow flies. With the
opening of the Laem Chabang Port 331 motorway, these great
golfing destinations, as well as Pattana, can be reached in about 50
minutes. The other big benefit is safety, as it cuts out the accident
prone Amata Estate route as well.
It was a fantastic day for golf today, and one made all the more
special for Kenny Aihara, who aced the long 7 th hole for his fourth
career Hole-in- One. This 190 yard terror is a tough shot, and most
are just happy to be on the green in one. Well done Ken, and thanks
for the bell ringing!
The flags on the front nine all hung down as not a breath of a breeze
was in the air. Never mind, the course was in the best nick we have
ever seen and the greens were cut to a fair pace…fast but fair. The

back nine saw the wind pick up nicely, and with an Almond Magnum
from the 10 th tee drinks stop, we were on the way.
Graham Eldridge at 37 was third place, Ellison shockingly birdied the
last for second at 38 with more drugs in him than the entire Russian
Curling team, and Kenny Grimes in the first group out won with a
fine 39. Zed Beloglavec had at least one good shot with his near pin
win for the Caddy Smile project.
Thursday 29 th – Greenwood A & C – Monthly Medal – White Tees
1 st – Ahmed Saijad – net 69
2 nd – Kenny Aihara – net 71 (cb)
3 rd – Lee Short – net 71
4 th – Nick Fazakerley – net 71
5 th – Leo Ruusaken – net 71

On to the third beautiful golf course of the week. The lovely
Greenwood. A full signup sheet had the A and C courses assigned so
off on schedule at our 09:30 tee time for the March Monthly Medal.
There was a spot of rain at the 11 th hole so a 30 minute break actually
brought welcome relief and also cooled things down. It’s not so hot
for us locals, but the visitors were struggling a bit!
It was interesting scoring as we had four blokes turn in cards of 71 so
the dreaded countback was in play. Kenny was looking for his eighth
victory but just missed out. Zed Beloglavec gets his second near pin
of the week too.
This time out it was our mate visiting us again from Pakistan, and
Ahmed Saijad wins his first Medal! Nice shooting Ahmed and good to
see you back.

Friday 30 th – Treasure Hill – Stableford – Yellow Tees

1 st – Nick Fazakerley - 41 points
2 nd – Doc Beard - 37 points
3 rd – Mark Wood - 36 points
4 th - Peter Thomas – 35 Points
The course you love to hate was in play today. Treasure Hill is one of
the harder track we have in Pattaya, and the yellows at 6,400 are a
real test. You have to hit the ball straight here or you will find trouble
both right and left.
Again, we had a beautifully presented golf course and a full signup
sheet for the comp today. Kenny had mentioned the greens here
were absolutely perfect!
Peter Thomas took fourth, Mark Wood had 36 for third with Doc
Beard a shot better for second. Nick Fazakerley had them by four and
at 41 points stole the show. Nick was a slow starter and made the
turn with just 18 on the front. The back was a different story and the
good doctor made up for it and more with a strong 23 to finish at 41.
