Hole in 1 for Thankiat  &  Good Day from Todd

The day was clear skies, with a light breeze for the PAGS tournament, this month over the Mountain & Lakes combination.  For today’s field of 108 keen players which included a satisfactory number of 12 Ladies, the weather conditions made for a picture perfect day of golf.  With some overnight rain, the decision was made to have preferred lie on the closely mown surfaces, to help avoid an undeserved mud ball.  Overall the course was in good condition, & playing to it’s correct yardages on most holes.

Most months, there is generally a standout performer or 2 on the day, this month despite some good performances, saw more of an even spread across the field.  The Ladies  winner Samron (21) with her day’s outstanding best Stablefored score of 43 points and a technical prize was amongst the top performers.  Lek Wilson (25) with a solid 41 points, picked up 2nd place in the Ladies division, on counback over Soorat.

As the headline suggests, it was Todd Doss (+1) leading the way in A flight, +1 – 12, with his solid 37 points, after a back 9 of 31, to shoot 70, winning the Low Gross and an eagle 3 on 15.  Tobias Garneij (12) edged Thankiat Keapawee 21/20 on countback for 2nd, after both signed for 36 points. Tobias picking up a technical also, while Thankiat had a HOLE in 1 on Lake 2, the 1st of this year, so a BIG shout out of thanks goes to Dez Chalice from Door to Door Food Delivery for his sponsorship of the Ace prize.

B flight for handicaps 13 – 21 was won by Phil Davies (14) with 38 points, 1 clear of Donal McGuigan (20).  Bronze medal position went to Hugo Jonserud (13) with 36 points after a series of countbacks, over Dave Shannon and Dennis Paul.

C flight, for handicap 22>, saw the top spot go to Pierre Zbinden (23) with a day’s best for the men, of 40 points to go with his long putt prize on Mountain 5.  A countback was equired to separate 2nd from 3rd, with Adam Hall (25) getting the nod over Marco Charvolin (29) 20/19, after both signed for 36 points.

Special mentions go out to Michael Lohse for his 2 Long Drives in the under 54 division, and Bob Watson for his assortment of technical prizes, but collecting only the daily maximum of 2 prizes.

Dave and his team from the Sportsman, along with the great sponsorship provided by KPK Foods did a fantastic job of keeping all the golfers and their guests satisfied in the food & drinks area.

We will all look forward to another successful tournament with next month’s event on 31 October.  Contact Shane on 0863720084 or through Birdie at www.birdie.in.th to ensure your preferred tee time.
