THE GOLF CLUB RESULTS TGC write up for 19 th – 23 rd Feb

Category: Pattaya Amateur Golf Series, Knowledge Center, Golf Life

Great going for Gearie!
Monday 19 th – Green Valley – Stableford – White Tees
T-1 st – Gary Emmett (15) 41 points
T-2 nd – Dave Stockton (8) 39 points
T-2 nd – Andy Makara (28) 39 points
4 th – Dan Dietz (9) 38 points

Scattered thunderstorms were forecast all this week but somehow
we managed to dodge the bullet and get away Scot-free. It is very
lush out at Green Valley right now and rain is always the
greenskeepers’ friend. Conditions were awesome!

Members and tourists were both on the leaderboard today and the
slots were all full on the sheets. Dr. Dan starts us off with a dandy 38
for fourth. At a tie for second we find Monday regular Andy Makara
tied at 39 with Dave Stockton. Our pal Gary Emmett made the
Australian presence, shooting a fine 41 for the win, and his buddy
Dave Ferris delivered the near pin.
The really big news for today was Ishi, our buddy from Japan who
finally got over the water on the first hole and actually ended up with
a par! Unfortunately, that was the highlight of his round.
Tuesday 20 th – Khao Kheow B&C– Stableford – White Tees
1 st – Mitch Black (15) 41 points
2 nd – David Johl (18) 40 points
3 rd – Bud O’Meara (18) 39 points

Speaking of rainstorms, another group of mates who chose to play
Green Valley today were completely swamped and could not finish
the round. We got lucky and had Khao Kheow scheduled and did not
get a drop of rain until the last group up the 18 th . That’s what clean
living will do for you.
We have been playing Khao Kheow pretty much every week so I will
stop gushing about what great condition it is in (but it is) as I am sure
you are tired of reading about it. Good scores were returned today
and Mitch Black led the field with 41 points. Zed Belogavec got the
near pin and let me off the hook by missing that birdie putt…cheers
mate.
Thursday 22 nd – Emerald – Stableford – White Tees
1 st – Brad Gearie (13) 42 points
2 nd – Alan Rothwell (5) 38 points
T-3 rd – Ray Powell (22) 37 points
T-3 rd – Dan Dietz (10) 37 points

It was a very busy morning for breakfast today as we had a packed
house, with a van full going up to watch the LPGA Honda Classic up
at Siam Old Course as well as the vans for today’s comp boys.

Good guys go to Heaven and bad guys go to Emerald, I think that is
what that dumb tee-shirt says. Anyway, today they were well
behaved here and we had no problems with the starter pushing us
back. We were teeing off right on time at 09:34 as scheduled for our
6 groups, so all sabai-sabai kraap.
Emerald can be a tough little track that Nick Faldo and Desmond
Muirhead scripted so shooting your handicap here is a good thing. All
the leaderboard boys did better than that so well done lads. Dan and
Ray strolled through the park for 37 to end tied for third. The Mayor
of New York is back with a well-earned 38 and not a shank in sight!
It was a very good day indeed for Mr. Gearie with a four stroke win
that added up to a whopping 42 circled on the top of the card. Brad
continued the good play with his near pin win on the last par-3 to
claim the Caddy Smile bonus as well.
Thanks to all who joined us for another great week of golf in
paradise.
