Bangpra International Golf Club

Address: Bangpra Golf International Co.,Ltd. 45 Moo 6 Bangpra Sriracha Chonburi 20110 Thailand.
URL: http://www.bangpragolf.co.th
Description: The Bangpra Golf Club was designed by Japan Golf Promotions Co., Ltd back in 1958 making it one of the oldest courses in Thailand. In 1988 the course was updated in what was a joint venture between the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Japan Golf Professional Incorporated turning it into the course that we all love today. The course sits on a spacious 550 rai of land and given its age is not surprisingly one of the most mature courses in the Pattaya area. The course is very picturesque although the most interesting holes tend to be found on the front nine. The par 3 second hole across water and the long par 4 third hole are some of the most talked about holes on the course. The front nine is an excellent mix of well-placed bunkers and water hazards that would test even the most accomplished players. Although the course is seen as testing it is also seen as being very fair. The second nine is something of a contrast to the front nine as it is notable much flatter. Some indeed view this as an anti-climax although many see it as a welcome relief. The two par 3, the 12th and 17th are over water and require you to hit and stay on the green from the tee - adding to their interest. The 12th, 13th and 15th also require shots over water so as you can see water is one of the key ingredients of the back nine. The modern clubhouse features Japanese style baths and a luxurious locker room. The restaurant and bar areas are excellent with the restaurant specialising in Japanese cuisine so this particularly appealing to those who like this type of food.

Description: Burapha Golf Club is one of the finest golf courses in the area and has previously held the Thailand Open back in 2010 along with a whole host of other professional tournaments. The courses are set amongst rolling hills, natural lakes and woodland which are all combined to make the courses some of the most attractive in all of Thailand. The course designers, Gary Panks and David Graham have made splendid use of the natural surroundings to turn the course into what we know and love today. The courses were originally split into the A and B 18 holes and the C and D 18 holes although now it is more common the play A and C or B and D. Courses A is widely regarded as the easiest of the four and is aimed at and ideal for up and coming golfers as it has wider fairways that are more forgiving of a wayward tee shot. B and D are the courses aimed at the professionals or lower handicapped players and are well known for their elevated tee boxes and challenging holes. Course C is seen as being somewhat in the middle and a perfect addition to other 3. Wherever you are on the course you will have stunning views. Many of the views look out across Pattaya Bay, Laem Chabang and across to the magnificent club house across the valley at the neighbouring Laem Chabang Golf Club. Course D or the Dunes course as it sometimes referred to has the highest points on the course, no more so than between the 6th and 7th holes where, as you can imagine the views are quite simply sensational. If you are playing golf in the area and you are only here for a short time this is really is one of the courses that you should be playing. Choose the courses that best reflect your handicap and you are sure to have a fantastic day out.

Description: Travel up the highway 331, through the pineapple fields to find this testing design, recently purchased and refurbished by the Chang Group. Previously known as Century Chonburi, designed by Nick Faldo, although he may well have disowned it, as it was let rundown condition wise. This is not the case now, with well maintained fairways, greens and bunkers. The course is at the more affordable end of the green fee range, and still currently permits 2 golfers sharing a cart. The course features small, sloping greens which are the primary protection for the course, although they are nowhere near as fiery as in previous times. Predominantly sloping from the back to the front, so approach placement to have uphill putts is most desirable. Each 9 has 1 short & 1 more challenging par 3, while the par 5s offer plenty of room to play as 3 shotters, while still offering the longer hitters the opportunity to take the green on. The 18th is an example of this, but leave the ball above the hole at your peril, as putting off the green is a distinct possibility. The par 4s offer a mix of holes that require only short approaches, while there are a few that require well struck mid to long irons. Notably the 16 th , with its wide but shallow green, which may well be beyond the reach of many. All in all Pattavia offers a challenging round of golf, on a good conditioned course, at a reasonable price, about 1 hours drive from the centre of Pattaya.

Description: The Greenwood Golf and Resort, formerly Noble Place is located amongst the tree lined hills of Chonburi. Designed by the 'old master' Peter Thomson and Dennis Wolverine, this is a thinking man's course. It makes heavy use of flowing fauna and extensive landscaping. There are many tricky bunkers to catch the errant shot. Palm-tree-lined fairways are undulating. Water is a small feature in the course but the major design concentrates on masses of sand, reeds and heavy rough which makes this course one of the best in the Pattaya. Clubhouse offers a full range of facilities and accommodations are also available here.

Description: The Siam Country Club Waterside Course is the third layout from Siam Country Club in Pattaya. The Waterside Course, designed by IMG, features gently sloping terrain, making it very different from the hillier Siam Country Club Old and Plantation Courses. Spread out over 200 acres the golfer friendly course is of the same championship quality and 5-star experience as its other two big brothers next door. Environmental waste areas and straightforward holes are the emphasis of most holes at the Waterside Course. Course design is strategic with several lakes and creeks in play. At over 7,400 yards the back tees will challenge the best golfers. At the same time, other tees down to 5,000 yards are available and offer enjoyment for players at any level. Fairways are grassed with the latest variety of Paspalum grass while greens are an ultra-dwarf Bermuda grass. The last three holes of each nine are framed by water. All of the greens are basically flush with the fairways making getting up and down a realistic strategy for most players. Some of the most notable holes include the 17th which is a long 600 yard par-5 that gives big hitters the option to cut across a dogleg left over water to reach the green in two or shorter hitters a layup, but still challenging shot over a deep ravine to make the green in regulation. The lone tree is well left of the green and a good target if playing a layup shot. The final hole is a great finishing hole playing around the large manmade lake in front of the club house. The 420 yard par-4 is a monster for any golfer, especially playing into the prevailing winds. Many rounds will be settled here with the rare birdy possible, but many more bogies or worse more likely. The Waterside clubhouse is of modern contemporary design and has all the facilities of a top golf club. The clubhouse features a 180 degree view of the surrounding valley. From the terrace golfers can see how the course, lakes, creeks and landscaping blend in with natural land formations. The well-stocked pro shop, excellent locker rooms and changing areas, and top quality restaurant serving both Thai and international items add to overall special experience. There is an 18-hole putting “course” next to the clubhouse that can be “played” for as little as THB 100 and is a fun way to settle some bets. The real practice green however is located next to the starting area by the first hole. The excellent staff, thoroughly trained caddies, and first class operations insure a satisfying day out at Siam Waterside for all golfers.

Description: The Mountain Shadow Golf Club is located approx 40 minutes from Pattaya. The course was opened in 1993 and was designed by Ronald Fream. The course measures 6,807-yard from the plates and is a visual beauty. The course was designed in an existing mango plantation which still today provides hazards for the wayward golfer. Formerly Natural Park Hill, the course was closed for several months and has undergone management changes and a great deal of improvements. Now the course is an excellent test of golf for both the beginner and professionals alike. Positioned behind many of the greens are large trees and a variety of flora that blooms at different times of the year. It has tight fairways and straight driving is quite important here. The golf course usually plays longer than it looks, so checking your yardage with the caddy is important. Its fast greens can be terrifying, featuring many multiple slopes and levels. Landing your ball at the correct part of the green is essential; otherwise you will find yourself in three-putt territory. When the par 3 signature hole, the 17th, is in full bloom, it is visually one of the most stunning holes in all of Thailand. You must carry the tranquil lotus flowered pond -which itself is bordered by multicoloured flowering shrubbery- to find the deeply bunkered green. Putt well on this golf course and you will know that you have played great golf.

Description: Siam Country Club Pattaya Plantation was simultaneously built at the same time during the renovation of Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course, and opened in April 2008. Designed by Lee Schmidt of Schmidt & Curley, the Plantation is a 27-hole golf course and meant to have a clear distinction from the Old Course. Fairways, bunkers and greens are uniquely different from any other golf courses in Thailand. The routing sits high on rolling hills of the natural terrain meandering mountains and natural creeks with a panoramic view of Pattaya. Strong wind is one of the natural character and part of the challenge but the breeze makes the hottest day more pleasurable. The “PLANTATION” name was given in the honor of the historic Sugar Cane, Tapioca, and Pineapple plantations, and each nine-hole is named accordingly. One year after the Plantation open, it hosted the Honda LPGA Thailand 2009 in February, a testimony to quality and service of the golf course. From 2009 onward, the Plantation has been awarded the “Best Maintained Golf Course in Asia Pacific.” A unique architectural “Bird Wings” clubhouse sets on top of the hills. Views of the golf course and its surround undulating terrain can be seen from almost every corner of the clubhouse. From the front balcony, view of the only “Triple Greens,” in Asia, 3 greens of 3 golf holes occupying almost 3,000 square meters is a memorable sight. Inside the clubhouse, ample space and modern style decorations of the locker rooms, restaurant, and pro-shop together with well trained staffs is second to none. Whether the Old Course or Plantation, the distinction is obvious both in the clubhouse and golf course styles. However, the same philosophy of qualities and services are identical. The addition of a new 18-hole Siam Country Club Pattaya Waterside will showcase another style of the same philosophy.

Description: Treasure Hill Golf & Country Club has some smallish occasional water hazards to negotiate and fewer than usual bunkers that are a bit larger than normal, and there are several dogleg holes demanding that you position your tee shots carefully. This membership golf course sits on foothill terrain that makes it quite challenging, with sloping fairways and greens. Even the avid golfer may find it challenging to play their normal shots on this course and this is part of the charm and substance of an enjoyable round of golf. A visit to this scenic venue is well worth your time, especially when you are in the Pattaya area already. Being nestled in tropical jungle forests at the base of an isolated mountain adds drama and aids perspective in judging distances for most golfers. You will find Treasure Hill’s course and facilities in excellent condition, making you glad you added it to your itinerary or package. Walk or ride the rolling fairways with plenty to see between shots. This Pattaya golf course seems to cooperate with the lay of the land as opposed to being imposed upon it. Yoshikazu Kato designed this track to championship standards with course management as important as physical skill in thinking your way around the course. The clubhouse is what you’d expect of a better golf course and Golf Orient can book you on this members-only layout.

Description: This 27-hole golf course is situated along route 36 heading towards Pattaya and takes about 80 minutes to reach from central Bangkok. Like so many of the Eastern Seaboard's courses the Khao Kheow Country club catches a strong sea breeze thus players have to plan their shots carefully on account of the numerous large ponds, bunkers and hills that surround the greens and fairways. The course really has something for everyone. In particular, watch out for the par-three seventeen, it's a killer for both amateurs and professionals and relies on the golfer having a certain amount of luck on his/her side. The first 18 have been designed with a stadium championship course, while the back 18 are definitely more geared towards a resort course. Those daring enough to do the whole lot in one day can look forward to relaxing at the lush clubhouse afterwards, which incorporates a sports club, swimming pools, hotel accommodation and tennis courts in its design.

Description: Parichat International Golf Links is located 30 minutes from Pattaya and near to Pattaya Country Club. It takes around 1 hour from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport to reach the course for those coming from the other direction. Opened in 2015, Parichat International Golf Links is an 18-hole course laid out on 200 acres of rolling natural terrain. The short 6,600 yard layout is in average condition and has several tricked out holes which make it best suited for skilled golfers. Large ravines and cliffs frame many of the holes and also come into play to swart good shots from being in play. Another common theme is water that creates unnecessarily narrow openings to the greens juts into the fairways several times through the course. Parichat International Golf Links has several of these “exciting” holes. The par-4 seventeenth plays over 400 yards, is the longest par-4 on the course, and the signature hole. A good score requires a tee shot that negotiates the water which cuts in to the center from the right side of the fairway. The high cliff left frames the hole nicely, thus it’s signature appeal. However, the green is severely sloped from front to back which makes stopping the ball on the approach shot very difficult. The temporary clubhouse is adequate for most needs as are the on-course kiosks. However, the permanent structure once completed will offer better service and more complete facilities. Parichat Links is a choice among many nearby courses for golfers who looking for a decent course at a reasonable price. Carts are mandatory, so this cost must be factored in.

The rolling hills of the surrounding countryside have been used to great effect, and hazards to stop you reaching the large elevated greens are in abundance. Not only does the course have a lot of bunkers, sand traps and water hazards, there is also a lot of natural hazards in the shape of exposed rock formations, lakes, ponds and creeks. Description: Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course is the first privately owned golf club in Thailand, founded by the late Dr. Thaworn Phornprapha, originally designed by I. Izumi. The golf course opened in 1971, and had hosted the Thailand Open 4 times together with many Asian Golf Circuits, and most recently after the renovation in 2007, becomes home of the LPGA in Thailand since 2007. The golf course and clubhouse underwent a complete renovation in 2006, and opened in March 2007. A sister golf course is also simultaneously built nearby with its own clubhouse, called Siam Country Club Pattaya Plantation. Lee Schmidt of Schmidt & Curley Design Inc. took on the redesign the Old Course but kept the original routing of I. Izumi and many of the old characters. Bunkers are added for a modern esthetic look, feel and landscape. Seashore Paspalum is chosen for fairway grass, and Novotek for greens. Despite a new look, the Old Course remains a classic traditional tree line with many fond memories of the past. Classic, beauty, and challenge are what the Old Course is known for today in Thailand. Just like the golf course, the clubhouse also had a 100% complete refurbishment. Utilizing the old structure, modern comforts are added while maintaining a soft executive touch and feel. The restaurant, overlooking the 18th hole (only 50 yd), enjoys spectacular view of the golf course, can host up to 180 guests, and is the best place to be at the end of the round. The guests will find the showers and locker rooms’ facilities to be as comfortable as their homes. Throughout the golf course, there are many kiosks and toilet stops that will assure the guests’ comfort. Shortly after the Old Course was opened in March 2007, it hosted a world class tournament, Honda LPGA Thailand 2007 in October. In February 2009, the tournament moved to Siam Country Club Pattaya Plantation. Since 2010, the Old Course has become home of the LPGA tournaments in February. Events such as the LPGA are testimony to the quality of the golf course, clubhouse, and services. The renovation of Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course marks a commitment of a new level of excellence and is promised to be among the best in Asia Pacific. An additional 18-hole youngest sister golf course, the Waterside, is under construction and is scheduled to open in 2014.

Description: Pleasant Valley Golf & Country Club is located amongst the mountains north of the city of Pattaya and is cooled by the breezes blowing across the golf course. The Khao Kheow National Park with lakes and waterfall are located only a few minutes drive from the club house. It's a great place for relaxation not only for golfers, but also for family members who like to enjoy the natural beauty of this Pattaya golf course. Well manicured tee-boxes, fairways, and greens make for "pleasant" golfing conditions at Pleasant Valley Golf & Country Club. The Golf East designed course is more challenging than most other Pattaya golf courses. Several holes play alongside and through natural reed filled swamps and ponds that cross the fairways. Poorly hit golf balls often end up in these waste areas. The par 5 12th hole is particularly memorable as a long 200 yard carry is required to put the ball in play off the drive. The finishing hole, a short 360 yard par 4 dog leg is also one of the better Pleasant Valley golf holes. Long hitters can go for the green as the fairway close to the green feeds balls down to the front fringe. Those going for the fairway should take care and use 3-wood off the tee to be sure not to hit into the water directly in front. The course is easy to walk as most elevation changes are internal built up areas rather than larger natural hills that are found at nearby courses like Khao Kheow Country Club.

Description: Formerly known as Legacy Crystal Bay Golf Resort, the course designed by famous Japanese Designer Thai Takenaka was first opened back in 1988. Set out in a simple but effective 27 hole design, the course is renowned for its lush, palm tree lined fairways, well maintained tee boxes and of course the water. The water is a key feature on the course not only as a hazard but also to add to the attractiveness of the course. Water is present on almost every hole and there are bunkers aplenty to add to your whole enjoyment. The 3rd and 8th are particularly spectacular holes with the 8th being a par 3 island hole leaves little room for error, even for the most accomplished of golfers. That being said, the course offers frequent birdie opportunities with most people managing to play to their handicap or better. The standard of the course varies throughout the year and can quickly become waterlogged after storms so it is a good idea to have a look at the weather forecast in advance before making too many plans. The clubhouse is of a reasonable standard although it now starting to look a bit dated and some parts need a little work. The bar area is nice and serves a wide selection of drinks whilst the restaurant has a wide selection of Thai food although Western options are somewhat limited. The course is probably not one of the first on people’s lists when they are thinking of playing a round of golf and this perhaps does the course a little bit of an injustice. Assuming that the weather and course conditions are favourable you can have a thoroughly pleasant round with the caddies always appearing to be friendly and knowledgeable

Description: Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club, opened in 1993, Dennis Griffith's three nine hole courses - Mountain, Lakes and Ocean - presented golfers with great design, stunning views, superb conditioning and proximity to the resort city of Pattaya. The course rapidly became a favourite of locals and visitors alike, and over the years has hosted numerous corporate and charity tournaments, as well as several professional events, including the 2015 All Thailand Golf Championship. In 2013 Ms Chanya Swangchitr, an experienced golf course owner/operator, took over this gem and promptly announced a major investment in the property, signing agreements to upgrade the course, clubhouse, and surrounding 1,000 rai (160 hectares) of property for property development and a planned public listing. With new owners and management, Phoenix Gold has risen, with significant investment back into the course, including a comprehensive makeover that began in 2014 by master designed Pirapon Namatra. The Mountain and Ocean nines have had upgrades of the greens complexes, bunkers, tee tops, fairways and drainage that has produced technical improvements, while not significantly changing the look and feel. By comparison, he has significantly re-routed and toughened up the shorter Lakes nine, adding new water hazards, and overhauling tee boxes and greens, making the new layout much more fun and challenging. But don’t just take our word for it - come and experience the improvements for yourself!

Description: Pattaya Country Club is spread out on over 2,000 rai of park like land amist gentle rolling hills and is one of the closest courses to Pattaya. The golf course is relatively easy and good for golfers of all abilities. Several the holes feature dual fairways making for more challenging as well as for safer routes to the greens. The greens are usually well guarded by bunkers and many are quite undulating. Unlike many other Pattaya area courses, water comes into play on only one hole, the 17th par 4, at Pattaya Country Club. On the other hand, with the vast land area many of the holes are located far away from one another. This not only makes for long walks from greens to the next tees and but also gives rise to the OB areas found on many of the holes. The finishing 3 holes, locally named 'amen corner' are the most difficult on the course and make for some dramatic finishes or surprise scores those counting too early on a good a round. The smaller than usual clubhouse makes up for the lack of facilities with friendly staff and an excellent Thai restaurant, both providing welcome refreshments after any game.
