Pattaya is home to some of the best golf courses in Thailand. The courses here are world-renowned and provide golfers of all skill levels with a challenge. There are many factors that make a great golf course, I have broken down the courses into what I consider the most important factors for golf courses in Thailand
The ability to add a course review was added to the Birdie system back in 2017 and has since, collected just over 15,000 reviews for golf courses throughout Thailand. When a player enters their score after playing golf into the Birdie system for their handicap they are prompted to make a review of the course they just played.
These review are collected and displayed on the course directory section of the Birdie platform and are also visible on Google search.
Each section is ranked out of 5 and the player has the option to write about what they liked and didn't like about their visit.
For this aricle I ranked the best golf courses in Pattaya from those very reviews submitted by you. Below is a list of golf courses in the Pattaya region which includes Chonburi and Rayong provinces. Note that some of the golf courses have changed their names over the years:
Golf clubhouses in Thailand are nothing like the traditional clubhouses you would find in the west, they are often extravagant, palace like places with more rooms than most hotels.
Drinks stops in Thailand are on every golf course, often every 3-4 holes where you can get a drink (hence the name) and some snacks. Some offer just a packet of crisps but some offer a variety of different foods.
Golf Caddies are compulsory in Thailand and are a welcome treat for many golfers in the land of smiles. Golf caddies vary greatly depending on the course, some courses merely offer someone to carry your clubs while others take training their caddies very seriously and offer professional grade caddies that know every break in the greens.
Golf courses on this list have been designed by some of the most famous golf designers in the world including Robert Trent Jones Jr, Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Lee Schmidt.
Golf course condition varies depending on the time of year but generally speaking the top end courses fair better in this category. Biggest surprise here is Siam Old Course being so far down the list, this is one of the oldest golf courses in Pattaya and venue to the Honda LPGA each year where the condition is impeccable but I guess still not good enough for the amateur golfers of Thailand.
Value for money is another factor that would change all the time, golf courses offer sports days during quiet times where courses like Chee Chan half their rack rate making it very good value of money.
Course difficulty is subjective, what some may find challenging golf others will find relatively easy but the reviews here are from all skill levels from a 0 handicapped golfer right up to a pure beginner.
The best overall golf course incorporate all the ranking numbers from the 7 categories to determine an overall score.
Unlike many other lists out there this list has been comprised by the very golfers that play these golf courses all the time. I will update over time as more reviews come in, so we getting a better understanding of what really are the best golf courses in Pattaya by category.
