Siam Country Club Plantation Review (2022)

Category: Golf Course Review

Siam Country Club Plantation was the second club to open as part of the Siam Country Club Pattaya group in 2008.

The golf course was designed by Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley who had just completed the renovations to the Siam Country Club Old Course around the corner.

They inherited a hillside that in the past had been a historic sugar cane and pineapple plantation.

Using the rolling terrain which also features significant elevation, they created three magnificent nine-hole courses named Pineapple, Tapioca, and Sugar Cane.

Compared with many other golf courses

These first two courses can play anything from 7,404 up to a massive 7,495 yards making it one of the longest golf courses in Thailand.

Sugar Cane is a par 36-hole layout at the back of the clubhouse and most would say is the hardest of the three.

Lorena Ochoa won here

When it opened the course hosted the US LPGA won by the golfing legend Lorena Ochoa. They host many tournaments there including the 2015 Thailand Open.

The designers have used Paspalum fairways and have incorporated many giant high-lipped bunkers and Asia's first triple green too in front of the clubhouse.

Sugar Cane starts gently with a dogleg par 4 however a favorite for the risk and reward golfer has to be their 5th hole here.

It is 596 yards uphill and with its split fairway, you have the choice of taking the right side of the fairway with more bunkers than a Vietnam war zone, or the safer but longer route on the left to an elevated green.

Sugar Cane's 9th is a monster par 4 at 498 yards uphill and deserves its ranking as handicap 1.

Overall this is a first-class experience and locals and international golfers make this one of the busiest 27 holes in Thailand.

Caddies are first class

The caddies are very well trained and the club even hosts each year the final of the Amazing Thailand Caddie Championships.

The large clubhouse has a well-stocked pro shop, large changing rooms, an excellent restaurant, and a wide terrace to enjoy a cold drink overlooking the course with Pattaya beach in the distance.

Their driving range is very popular and your caddie will drive you there before your round. It even has its own cafe too.

The Siam Country Club Plantation Plantation course is an amazing golf course.

It is also a worthy addition to the Siam Country Club stable and has become a top Pattaya golf course not just for locals but for golf vacationers and corporates too.

It has it all here

It has it all from significant elevation changes, rolling hills, undulating fairways, elevated greens, landscape ground cover, and even mature trees augmented too.

Using the natural characteristics the hillside offers cooling breezes so you can enjoy the golf.

Best book ahead as the Siam Country Club Plantation Course can be one of the busiest Pattaya Golf courses even on weekdays.

Some would say it is one of the best courses in SE Asia.
